Patti (Patricia) A. Reves, 74, passed away December 8th, 2023.
Patti was born September 21st, 1949, in Manhattan, Kansas to Paul and Fern Nelson.
Patti married Ken Reves in 1969 and together they raised their children in Emporia, Kansas before moving to Shawnee, Kansas where they lived for 27 years. In 2017, they retired to Wamego, Kansas.
Patti worked primarily in education as a secretary and bookkeeper in the Emporia Public Schools and the Olathe Public Schools where she retired from. She loved working with numbers and would often say, “numbers don’t lie.” She may be the only person who enjoyed doing taxes, which was certainly a benefit to her family. Patti also enjoyed creative hobbies throughout her life including macrame, ceramics, and painting. She enjoyed traveling with destination such as Alaska, Hawaii, and state parks around the United States being some of her favorites, but the most memorable was the retirement celebration trip to Disney with the entire family. Patti was an avid reader. She spent many hours lost in the pages of books and a common phrase to her kids when they were young sounded something like, “as soon as I finish this chapter, or one more chapter!” As kids we knew it was never just one more chapter, but her love of reading was something we appreciated about her.
Patti was very active throughout her life playing both fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, tennis, was an avid walker until the end, and dedicated herself to her work in ways only those she worked with would recognize and appreciate. She was a giver and a helper with a servant’s heart and always knew just the right thing to do to offer support in a moment of need. It’s those moments in her life that left an imprint on those around her and positively impacted others.
Patti’s true passion in life was her family. Evidence of that can be found in stories from her husband, kids, and grandchildren. Her genuine heart and steadfast love for family can be seen through the generations. She was generous with her resources and time, but her love for family was her greatest gift. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud she was of them. She loved to brag about her grandchildren and their accomplishments and enjoyed all of their activities. Much like she instilled in her own children, she made sure all of her grandchildren knew their potential and success was limitless. Her positive and generous attributes will remain with us as her legacy. The best parts of Patti are in us, and the traditions and memories she leaves with us will continue to be shared with others.
Patti is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rick Nelson. She is survived by her husband, Ken; son, Tim and his wife (Marsha); daughter, Debbie Maska and her husband (Jon); six grandchildren; Kennedy Bull (Grant), Mollie Reves, Lindy Maska, Cooper Reves, Max Reves, Holly Maska; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Bull.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, Kansas.
