Patrick E. Mulcahy

Patrick E. Mulcahy, 84, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House.

Pat was born on August 11, 1928, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Rudy and Leona (Wynn) Mulcahy. He attended South St. Paul High School where he played football, basketball and hockey, being voted the captain of the football team his senior year. After high school Pat served in the U. S. Navy where he was stationed in Hawaii. After leaving the service he worked for F. O. K., a hardware wholesale company in St. Paul, where he eventually became a territory salesman, residing in Ames, Iowa, and covering the central Iowa territory. He later went to work for a manufacturer's representative agency out of the Twin Cities and moved back to St. Paul. He later worked for the Kwikset Lock Company leaving that position in 1961 when he moved to the Kansas City area and started his own manufacturer's representative company. In 1975 he teamed up with David Shipman of St. Louis, Missouri. and formed the manufacturer's representative agency of Mulcahy-Shipman and Associates. He retired in 1994. He enjoyed golf, and after his retirement was active in the Kansas City Seniors Golf program.

Pat is survived by his wife Bea Mulcahy of Lenexa; his step daughters Dana Ketterling and her husband Jay of Olathe and Sue Agnew of Independence, Missouri; and Dana's son Bryce Kendrick of Overland Park, Kansas, and stepdaughter Lindsey Ketterling-Packingham, Great Falls, Montana.

He is also survived by his son Patrick D. Mulcahy and his wife Deborah of Olathe, Kansas; his daughter Sheila Citek and her husband Billy of Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as his daughter Dawn Physioc and husband Bart of Tacoma, Washington.

His surviving grandchildren are Pat and Deb's children; Mary Johnson and her husband Tony of Ft. Worth, Texas; Patrick F. Mulcahy and his wife Tara of Louisburg, Kansas; Martin Mulcahy and his wife Laura of Kansas City, Missouri; Erin Guelbert and her husband Cameron of Olathe, Kansas and Magdalen Mulcahy of Olathe, Kansas; as well as Sheila's daughter Caitlin and son Casey of Wilmington and Dawn's daughter Carly and son Luke. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
