Paul D. Ackles, 80, Olathe, KS, went home to be with the Lord , Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, Olathe, KS.

Paul was born September 3, 1936 in Binghamton, NY to Howard O. and Carolyn (Powers) Ackles.  On June 23, 1962, Paul married Gail Nichols in Youngstown, OH.

Paul attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.  He served as a deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, IL and was a member of Colonial Presbyterian Church of Overland Park, KS.  He was a member of the Lions Club of Evanston, IL and the Illinois Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Paul is lovingly remembered for his investment and influence in the lives of youth through his years of volunteer coaching and involvement in the Grosse Pointe Soccer Club of Evanston, USA Boys and Girls Soccer Club of Evanston, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and YMCA Indian Princesses and Indian Guides.  He loved his Evanston community through his active service and volunteering.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Gail N. Ackles, by his father, mother, and brother, Philip S. Ackles, and granddaughter Anna Grace Ackles.  Survivors include his three children Kimberley A. (Don) Hymer, Overland Park, KS and Jennifer E. Ackles, Allen, TX; son, Kevin A. (Kim) Ackles, Kenosha, WI; six grandchildren, Megan (William) Easley, Eric (Shelby) Hymer, Abigail Ackles, Amelia Ackles, David Ackles, Ainsley Ackles.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501 W. 137th St., Overland Park, KS.
