Paul Norman Borel, age 61, passed away peacefully at home Saturday May 24, 2014. Paul was born July 14, 1952 at KU Medical Center. He was the second son of Pierre and V. Joyce (Clevenger) Borel who predeceased him. Paul was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Paul was a 1970 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School and attended Kansas University. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at KU. He took French language courses and watch parts training in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. He was a lifelong member of Old Mission Methodist Church. He worked for Jules Borel & Company for 40 years serving as IT manager and a watch parts expert. Jules Borel & Co. was founded in 1920 by Paul's grandfather. Paul continued the family tradition of serving watchmakers & jewelers around the country. In the early 1980's, Paul served as the manager of the Miami branch office. Paul also has served as a director of the Jewelry Industry Distributors Association. As a hobby, Paul loved to make large wall clocks and other items out of multi-colored woods that he would precisely laser-cut. He loved cooking, exercising, and conversation. He was friendly and had a positive outlook on life. Until the moment of his unexpected and sudden death, he had been feeling well and was very active and enjoying life. Paul is survived by brothers and sister Roger and Marilyn Borel, Fairway, KS, Terry and April Borel, Jonesborough, TN, Becky and Stuart Thomas, Fairway, KS and Timothy and Penny Borel, Leawood, KS. Nieces and nephews: Aimee, Arwen and Jesse Thomas; Pete Borel; Tucker, Timothy and Jack Borel. Step siblings: William and Fay Lipp, Carolyn and Neil Gorup, Linda Stokes and Nancy Lipp. Step nieces and nephews: Thomas Lipp, Jesi Pershing and Mary Lipp.

Visitation & Funeral Service

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS. Services will be Thursday, May 29th at 4 pm at Old Mission United Methodist Church, Shawnee Mission Parkway and Mission Rd., Fairway, KS.

Contributions

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Salvation Army or Old Mission United Methodist Church.
