Philip Nicklas

March 20, 1947 — November 8, 2024

Philip A. Nicklas, affectionately known to many as "Nick," passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at KU Medical, after a short but aggressive battle with cancer. Born on March 20, 1947, in Springfield, Ohio, Nick lived a life full of adventure, humor, and an unwavering commitment to helping others, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be cherished by his family and friends. He was 77 years old.

Nick's journey began in Springfield Ohio, where he spent his formative years attending Possum Junior High and later graduating from Shawnee High School in Springfield, Ohio. In 1967, Nick answered the call of duty and joined the Army, training as a radio operator. Once he left the Army his dedication to service continued as he transferred to the Air Force reserves, where he worked with a medical team transporting injured servicemen as well as other duties.

After his military service, Nick embarked on a successful professional career driven by his passion for sales. He founded his own manufacturing rep agency calling on major account headquarters for the hardware industry. After selling his agency, Nick furthered his career as a National Sales Manager working solely for Arrow Fastener Company. But Nick was not one to stay idle because even upon retiring from Arrow Fastener Co., his enthusiasm for work never waned, and he became a part-time sales manager/consultant for a United States family owned and operated company, FPC Corp. He felt very fortunate to be able to end his sales career feeling like part of their family.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Nick was an avid traveler, often setting off on new adventures with his beloved wife, Seretta. He was known for his jovial nature and infectious sense of humor, qualities that endeared him to everyone who knew him. Nick's love for the Kansas City Chiefs was legendary, and he could often be found cheering them on. He was always planning his next travel adventure, eager to explore the world and create lasting memories.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Clyde Nicklas, and his nephew, Dalton Rubottom. He leaves behind his loving wife, Seretta Nicklas; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Nicklas-Chernock and Alexei Chernock residing in Germany; son and son-in-law, Jonathan Nicklas and Ian Zaballero Baer in Virginia; grandson, Oskar Chernock; granddaughter, Evelyn Chernock; brother, Bill Nicklas; sister, Pat Manard; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers who will remember him fondly.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have expressed their condolences and support during this difficult time.
