With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Phouvieng Xayaphet, affectionately known as Poo, who departed this world on June 30, 2024, in Kansas City, MO. She was born on August 6, 1949, in Lakhonepheng, Lao.
Poo lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with her family. Her interests in cooking, gardening, and doting on her grandkids brought immeasurable joy to those around her.
In the early seventies, Poo courageously fled from Laos with her family in search of a better life in America, showcasing her strength and determination for a brighter future. Along this journey, she touched the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering spirit.
Poo is preceded in death by her beloved parents, sister and granddaughter, Candi Srivisay, who now awaits her with open arms in the eternal embrace of peace.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be forever cherished by her surviving family and friends: Noudam Xayaphet, her ex husband; Kham (Chris) Flathers, her daughter and husband; Vanh Xayaphet, son; Sue Xayaphet, daughter; granddaughters Sandi (Diego) Valles; Vanhessa Xayaphet, Victoria Xayaphet, Vivian Xayaphet, Valerie Xayaphet, Kaitlynn Xayaphet,; grandsons Connor Flathers, Jacob Xayaphet, Jayden Xayaphet, sister Kanekong Soukchareun, brother Khongthong Thanthanavong in France, sister Khongmouang Soukchareun in Laos and sister Khreungkham Soukchareun also in Laos.
In the embrace of cherished memories, Poo's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
May she find eternal peace and comfort in the arms of the divine.
A visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by an 11:00am funeral service on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.
