Phyllis Vera Bremer

January 8, 1929 — May 10, 2016

Phyllis Vera Bremer, 87, of Prairie Village, Kansas was peacefully called to her eternal home on May 10, 2016. She was born January 8, 1929, in Ohio to Earnest E. and Violet K. (Peterson) Chambers. In 1935, Ernie and Violet along with Phyllis and her sister Beverley-Jean Chambers (Barr) of Sunnyvale CA, moved from Canton, Ohio to Morristown, Minnesota. Two sisters Eileen Chambers (Kubes) of Faribault MN, and Joanne Chambers (Dahl) of Apple Valley MN, were born after the family settled in Faribault a short distance from Morristown. Phyllis spent her childhood years in Faribault Minnesota graduating from Faribault High School in 1947. Phyllis married Robert (Bob) E. Bremer on October 22, 1949, and on that date the two began their 66 year life together moving to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1957, the couple moved to Prairie Village, Kansas and spent 59 years in their home on 73rd Terrace. Phyllis was an accomplished and most talented oil painting artist and was twice named by the Mayor as Kansas City's Artist of the Month. Phyllis and Bob's entire life was grounded on their faith in God which was practiced at both Calvary Lutheran Church in Kansas City, MO and Bethany Lutheran Church in Overland Park, KS. Phyllis served faithfully in many roles at both churches and to this day, her unique three dimensional banners are hung to commemorate high festival Sundays. This faith built a lasting core of special friends and resulted in pinochle club that has played cards together for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her husband Bob Bremer, daughter Phyllis B. Fox (Roger) of Freeman, MO; son Steven R. Bremer (Marilyn) of Topeka, KS; daughter Barbara J. Farmer of Harrison, AR; son S. Thomas (Tom) Bremer (Brenda) of Olathe, KS; and Timothy J. Bremer (Suzanne) of Wildwood, MO. Through their children Phyllis was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
