Phyllis J. Di Maio

Longtime resident of Redondo Beach, formerly of Shawnee, Phyllis J. Di Maio, 63, lost her long battle with cancer on May 12, 2010.

Phyllis was the eldest daughter born to Anthony and Beatrice Di Maio of Shawnee Mission, Kansas on October 22, 1946. She spent her formative years in Kansas. She is a 1964 graduate of Bishop Miege High School, and after completing her degree at the University of Kansas, began flying for Pan American World Airways in 1969. Phyllis then moved to California, continuing to fly for Pan Am until she joined United Airlines in 1986.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Janet Di Maio, of Overland Park, Kansas; brother Stephen Di Maio of Mission, Kansas; aunt, uncle and cousins, Roger, Barbara, Pam and Patsy Provost of South Haven, Michigan; and a loving Pan Am and United family.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mission, Kansas.
