Rachel Elizabeth Emery Fisk

January 25, 1921 — January 23, 2021

Rachel Elizabeth Emery Fisk of Lenexa, KS arrived at her heavenly home on January 23, 2021 just two days before her earthly 100th birthday.  She was a lifelong servant of Jesus Christ and lived a quiet, private life.  Among the many hats she wore were those of wife, mother of three, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of four, Sunday School teacher, church organist/pianist, fierce Scrabble competitor, avid reader, fixer of all things grammatical, and prayer warrior.

Rae was born January 25, 1921 in Warren, PA and was the eldest of four daughters. She was salutatorian of the graduating class of Eastern Nazarene College in 1942.  Later that year, she married her one and only love, "Bud" Fisk, and subsequently made a home for their family in Chattanooga, TN, Portage, WI, Borger, TX, Akron, OH, Avon Lake, OH, and Danville, PA before moving to Lenexa, KS.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Rose Klenck Emery and her father Maurice R. Emery both of Warren, PA; her sister Lois Romaine Emery Nielson of Dallas, TX; her sister Marilyn Ruth Emery Oddo of Shawnee Mission, KS; and her husband of seventy years, Douglas Everett Fisk of Cranston, RI.

She is survived by her sister Eleanor Marie Emery Akers of Charleston, SC; son David Emery Fisk (Marjorie) of Danville, PA; daughter Virginia Rae Fisk Schafer (Burton) of Olathe, KS; son James Douglas Fisk (Helen) of Birmingham, AL; four grandsons, Jonathan David Fisk, Jeffrey Brigham Fisk, Gregory Mims Fisk, and Daniel James Fisk, and two grandchildren by marriage; four great-grandchildren, Franklin Ethan Fisk, Nathan David Fisk, Jackson Emery Fisk, and Abigail Joy Fisk, and eight great-grandchildren by marriage.

She is buried next to her husband in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS.  To watch a livestream of the private service, please click here.  Her children express their deep appreciation to the second-floor staff of Centerpointe Care Center at Lakeview Village for wonderful and compassionate care of their parents in their last years of life.

Memorial gifts may be made to Far East Broadcasting Company, Slavic Gospel Association, Salvation Army, or Samaritan's Purse.
