Ralph Charles Crabtree

Ralph Crabtree, 87, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on September 14th, 2019. Ralph was born on August 5th, 1932 in Kansas City, MO to Chester Dale and Anna Vera Crabtree.

Those who knew and loved Ralph longed to be in his presence. They wanted to immerse themselves in his one of a kind character that was at the same time soft, loving, compassionate, and selfless, as well as tough, hardnosed, and straightforward. No one ever wondered where they stood with Ralph.

Ralph lived most of the last 30 years of his life with his son, Richard, his daughter-in-law Randi, and their children. The love that existed between him and the other nine people in the house was palpable and others who entered the home were captured by it. The door to Papa's apartment over the garage was always open, and most of the time someone was up there to solicit advice, to laugh, or to just feel the warmth of his love.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings George, Joe, Doris, Donna, Jim, and Emma Jean and his stepdaughter Kristen.

He is survived by his son Richard (Randi), his grandchildren Ben, Paul, Maggie Meether (Sam), Joe, Will, Rachel, and Gabe. He is also survived by his great granddaughter Anna, stepchildren Kendra and Scott, as well as four step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203 on Saturday, September 21st at 10:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM. Interment following Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
