Raymond Edward Mcvey

February 1, 1929 — February 27, 2013

Raymond Edward McVey, 84, fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away on February 27, 2013.

Ed was born on February 1, 1929, and raised in mid-town Kansas City, Missouri. He attended St. Vincent's Elementary School. He graduated from De La Salle Military Academy in 1946. Ed served in the US Army for two years during the Korean Conflict in the 3rd Infantry Division 9th F.A. He was a member of the American Legion Post #624.

Ed and his wife Margaret raised their family in Fairway, Kansas, for 35 years. He worked for International Harvester Co. for 33 years in Fairfax, Kansas. He and Margaret were married 62 years. They retired and enjoyed the last 16 years in Sunrise Beach, Missouri, at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he loved his lake home and his time spent there with family.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward R. and Teresa McVey, and by a sister Rosemary Lagomarcino. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Michael, John, James, and Robert; daughters, Nancy Garcia, Diane Couch, and Deborah McVey; and by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his brothers, John and William McVey, and sisters, Louise Carter, Eileen Bolin, and their families.

A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Friday March 8, 2013, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road, Roeland Park, Kansas 66205. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m.. Mass will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, in the Historic St. Patrick's Cemetery, "O" Road, Laurie, Missouri.
