Rebecca Adkins passed away peacefully, at 71 years young, on December 2nd, 2021 in Overland Park, Kansas, surrounded by prayer, song and her devoted family.

Rebecca was born in Stanton, Tennessee to Winfrey and Jennie Mae Douglas on November 13th, 1950. She went to Central Highschool in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated in 1968. She attended Metropolitan Junior College and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting. She retired as a CMT and took care of many people during her time working in nursing homes over the last 25 years.

Rebecca is survived by: her sister, Mae Harris; her brother Wiley Douglas and Sister in-law Vicky Douglas; her sister, Angela Walker and Brother in-law Michael Walker; her son, Wendell Adkins Jr. and her daughter, Izula Jade Monique Maximillen; two grandchildren, Solomon Maximillen and Briana Schofield; her nephews, Robert Harris, Roosevelt Harris Jr., William Douglas, Darnell Douglas, James Andrews and Joshua Andrews; her nieces, LaTonya Andrews, Jalesa Andrews, Myla Douglas, Christine Douglas, Ishawn Harris, N'dia Harris, Janea Bushnell, Dacia McGee and Mysia Harris.

Rebecca is welcomed home by her beloved parents, Jennie Mae Douglas and Winfrey Douglas, her maternal grandparents, Odell and Helen Sellers-Perry and her paternal grandparents Cora and Wiley Douglas, her nephew DuJuan Douglas and all the family and favorite people that have already made the journey home that she misses dearly.

She shared a passion for books, plants and New Orleans inspired cooking with seafood such as crawfish, lobster, shrimp and fried chicken from Church's.

Her life is a living example of faith, family, beauty, and determination that will inspire all that knew her.

A date has not been set yet for the celebration of her life.

We are very grateful for the prayers of support for the family as they grieve the loss of a dear relative, a Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie and Best Friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to support the family in preparing a memorial garden of her favorite flowers, roses, purslane and peonies.

All that she loved, she touched deeply
All that she touched, she changed.

From Love, We have come
and to Love, We return.
In between, We garden.
