Rebecca "Becky" Ann Smith, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 5, 2024, in Olathe, KS, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She was born in Clarksville, TN, on March 3, 1957. At the age of 67, Becky left behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
Becky met Paul at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville and knew immediately he was the one. They were sealed in the Washington D.C Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Becky dedicated her life to her family, serving as a devoted homemaker and loving mother. Her interests in genealogy, service to the Church, and sewing brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She lovingly served in various callings in the Church, including Stake Primary President and Stake Relief Society President, where she touched the lives of many through her compassionate nature and leadership. She was extremely proud that all of their sons served as missionaries.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Paul D. Smith, Sr., daughter Sarah E. Hyde (Eric), sons Paul D. Smith, Jr., C. Brandon Smith (Chelsea), Ryan L. Smith (Alicia), Benjamin G. Smith (Fernanda), daughter Jennie P. Smith, and her 10 grandchildren. Though preceded in death by her son Robert Williams Smith, Becky's memory will continue to live on through her family and friends.
Becky possessed a rare combination of keen intelligence, enthusiasm, compassion, and leadership ability that made her a natural center of gravity in educational, family, and church settings. She was the sun in her social solar system, radiating love and friendship to all who crossed her path.
As we mourn the loss of Becky, let us remember her for the light she brought into our lives and the impact she had on those around her. Her spirit will forever shine bright in our hearts.
Services for Becky will be held on June 10th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lenexa, 21515 W. 101st St. Visitation with the family is open to friends and will be from 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. Memorial Service will begin at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be at The Old Monticello Cemetery for family only. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
