Regina L. Bates

Regina L. Bates, 85, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Wilshire at Lakewood Nursing Center, Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Regina was born March 25, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas to Frank and Margaret (Devlin) Hashman. She was a 1943 graduate of Ward High School, Kansas City, Kansas. On May 17, 1946, Regina married Elmer Bates in Kansas City, Kansas. She was an education aide at Flint Elementary School for 20 years.

Regina was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 2000, daughter, Patricia Ann Bates in 1961 and brother, Robert Donald Hashman, 1977. Survivors include her three daughters, Susan Erny and husband, George, Mapleton, Kansas, Janet Reed, Gardner, Kansas and Mary Mangini and husband, Bill, Kirksville, Missouri; three sons, John Bates and wife, Barbara, Olathe, Kansas, Joe Bates and wife, Sue, Gardner, Kansas and Jim Bates and wife, Carolyn, Lee's Summit, Missouri; brother, Frank Hashman and wife, Kate, Olathe, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Visitation and Funeral Mass

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 am, Saturday, August 21, 2010, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 pm, Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a rosary recitation will be at 5:00 pm.
