Rex D. Haller, 88, of Louisburg, Kansas died at AdventHealth South Overland Park Hospital on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 am, Saturday, February 10, 2024 with a service starting at 10:00 am at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Harveyville Cemetery, Harveyville, Kansas.
Rex was born on August 27, 1935 to Louis Benjamin and Mayme (Lister) Haller in Harveyville, Kansas. He graduated from Harveyville High School in 1953. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He attended Washburn University and graduated with a degree in accounting. He married his wife Marva in 1961 and together they had 3 children. After graduation he began his career as an Auditor working for the U.S. Treasury Department, were he worked for 32 years.
Rex was a beloved coach, mentor and father. If he wasn’t babysitting his grandchildren, you would often find him at a local fishing hole or playing cards at the legion. He loved ice cream or anything sweet and was well known for his chocolate chip cookies. More recently you would find him sharing pancakes and a Dr. Pepper with his greatgrandchild Hudson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marva Haller, his brother Alan, his sisters Brenda and Joy.
Survivors include children, Melissa Haller married to Kerry Gaza, Christina Sword married to Todd Sword and James Haller together with Kimberly Weber, brother Monty Haller, sister Sue Evans, five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ruder (Blake), Andrea, Matthew, Hailey and Jack. He also has one great grandchild Hudson Ruder and another boy on the way.
