Rex James Myers

February 18, 1944 — May 9, 2011

Rex James Myers, 67, of Mission, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.

Rex was born February 18, 1944, to the late Robert and Olive Myers in Lincoln, Nebraska. Rex was a construction manager for thirteen regional hospitals for Health Midwest, Truman Medical Center, and Nebraska Medical Center. He was a member of the Operating Engineer Local Union #6, Temporary Electricians Local #124, as well as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 28 years.

Rex was a Troop Leader for Boy Scout Troop 194. Rex was the founder and Charter member of the Pain in the Ass Society of Greater Kansas City. He was a life long learner and mentor to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. He was an adventurer and enjoyed camping with his family and friends. Rex always tried to "do the right thing".

He is survived by his loving wife Alice; son Robert Carl Myers, Jr. and wife Mary Strafuss; two daughters, Kristi Ann Drake and husband Dan, Nicole Gerety and husband Kenneth; family friend Erla Eastbrook; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and four nephews.

Visitation and Memorial Service

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., May 14, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m.
