Rex Allen Rogers

March 21, 1948 — April 20, 2010

Rex Allen Rogers was born in Sidney, Nebraska, on Sunday, March 21, 1948. He passed on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

Rex was, and still is a light in the universe. He had a loving heart and sparkling sense of humor, and his generous spirit touched all who knew him. Rex was spiritual, independent, witty, and brilliant. Patience was one of Rex's sterling qualities. He understood how things worked, and could clearly and kindly explain complex situations to others.

A long-time member of the Kansas City Writers Group, Rex graciously took "class photos" and printed out the yearly holiday book. He served on the board of Whispering Prairie Press, a publications committee dedicated to celebrating local talent. He also designed and laid out the literary/art magazine, Kansas City Voices.

As a descendent of the Omaha Indians, Rex had a deep love of nature and truly honored the earth. He knew how to live in the present and how to appreciate his many blessings, including the job he'd loved at Fireman's Fund.

Rex, survived by his wife, Jane Rogers, his son, Nate Rogers, and a warm circle of friends and family, won't be forgotten.

Rex embraced life but was not afraid to die. His spirit of generosity, gratitude and appreciation lives on to inspire, guide and encourage all those who love him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Whispering Prairie Press, P. O. Box 8432, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
