Rhua "Mickey" Dietz Settle, 86, Kansas City, Missouri, died at home May 18, 2011.
Born January 16, 1925, she was an artist, writer and longtime volunteer. She volunteered at Hospice Care of Mid-America for 17 years; was a Great Books leader and GED instructor; and visited the sick at Menorah Medical Center and Truman Medical Center for more than 30 years. She was a devoted parishioner, Eucharistic Minister and volunteer for 40 years at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. If you recognize her picture, you may be one of the many strangers she quietly touched.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert Gayle Settle; and daughters Tama Lou Settle and Mary Gayle Settle.
She is survived by her children: Anne Harvey (Jim), Lenexa, Kansas, Joe Settle (Mary) Belton Texas, Brian Settle, Fairway, Kansas; her grandchildren: David Settle (Sonja), Raima Bowcaster (Shaun), Joy Hutcherson-Wong (Gordon) , Ruth Seba (Eric), Matthew Settle, Kelli Settle, Rebecca Harvey, Jasmine Settle, Lily Settle; and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests donations may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church, or simply do something kind for a stranger in her memory.
