Richard (Rich) A. Blanner, 81, passed away at his home on April 24th, 2021.
Rich was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Frank and Cres Blanner on June 2nd, 1939. He was the first child born to them, with two younger brothers following. He grew up in the St. Louis area and moved to Kansas City in 1965.
He worked for 3M in the printing division, then later moved on to Lawrence Photographic. Rich married Ann in March of 1981 and they blended together a family of six children. Rich was an outdoorsman, enjoying running, bicycling, soccer and gardening. He was a certified Master Gardener, specializing in flowers. Above all, his biggest gift was making people laugh. His humor and funny stories made people laugh until they cried. Rich was a wonderful dad and grandpa, and enjoyed spending time with his entire family.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ann; children Terri Hannam (fiance Gary), Kevin Owen, Paul Owen, Rick Blanner, Mary Ann (Mark) Myers, and Lisa (Paul) Van Nieuwenhuyse; 11 grandchildren Dan, Brittany, Nisa, Katie, Kayla, Becca, Sarah, P.J., Jack, Annie and Sam; 5 great-grandchildren Hayden, Skylar, Emery, Oakley and Grandpa’s buddy Nathan; and brothers Donald (Pat) Blanner and Robert (Marti) Blanner.
Services will be held on Friday, April 30th at St Joseph Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 12:30pm-1:00pm with a memorial mass beginning at 1:00pm.
