Richard Otto Booth

Richard Otto Booth, aged 91, passed away in the early morning hours of October 7, 2019.  Born May 10, 1928, the son of Rev. Melvin Booth and Pauline Booth.  Pauline passed away early in Richard's life, and Melvin remarried to Dorris Booth when Richard was eight years old. Dorris formally adopted Richard on his 40th birthday. Richard graduated from high school in Chanute, Kansas, where he had met Wanda Wilson. Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 as a heavy mortarman in the 110th Infantry Regiment, stationed in Germany.  When honorably discharged, Richard returned to the Kansas City, married Wanda and began a career as a printer, living in Shawnee, KS.  They had two sons, Joseph W. Booth and James A. Booth.  Joseph is married to Ginger Breedlove, from that marriage he has three step-sons, Ross Haynes, Reed Haynes, and Russell Haynes, and one son born of the marriage, Isaac B. Booth. Ross and his spouse, Rebecca Haynes, live in Overland Park, KS and have a daughter McKenzie Mae Haynes. Reed lives in Boulder, CO.  Russell and his spouse, Allison Haynes, live in Salina Kansas.  Joe, Ginger, and Isaac live in Shawnee, KS. James Booth is married to Mary Anne Booth, and they have three children.  Lewis W. Booth, James (Jimmy) W. Booth, and Heather A. Booth. James, Mary Anne, Jimmy and Heather reside near Baldwin, KS.  Lewis lives in Shawnee, KS.

Richard spent the latter half of his career as a patrol officer for Rainbow Mental Health, Kansas City, Kansas. Upon retirement, he moved to Olathe, KS and traveled and camped with Wanda, until her passing in 2000.  Richard's retirement years were devoted to family and his hobby, which was wood carving where exhibited a remarkable talent.  Richard's most significant accomplishment and greatest pride were always his two sons, their spouses, his seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

The family requests that instead of any flower or gifts, those donations be given to March for Moms, 11900 W. 87th St. Pkwy, Suite 250, Lenexa, KS 66215.

A service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home
