Richard Lee “Rick” Carlson

Richard Lee "Rick" Carlson, 57, Merriam, Kansas, died March 13, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House.

Rick was born January 28, 1954, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Harold R. Carlson and Anna D. (Sanders) Carpenter. Richard was a loving father, husband and son. He was loved by his family and friends throughout his life and 7 year battle with brain cancer. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 168 and the Westwood Lutheran Church. Richard enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and spending time with his wife and family.

Rick was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Vicky (Oden) Carlson; mother, Anna D. Carpenter, Kansas City, Kansas; four children, Amy Langford and husband, John, Tonganoxie, Kansas, David Carlson and wife, Kelly, Shawnee, Kansas, Zach Carlson and wife, Melissa, Kansas City, Missouri and Sara Bergerhofer and husband, Josh, Kansas City, Kansas; and 14 granchildren; two step children, Jenni Scott and husband, Darrin, Carrollton, Missouri and Phillip Henderson and wife, Rachel, Raymore, Missouri; brother, William Shane Carpenter and wife, Lori, Piper, Kansas.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the Westwood Lutheran Church, 5035 Rainbow Boulevard, Westwood, Kansas; burial in the Antioch Cemetery, Holt, Missouri.
