Richard Paul Peak, 78, Mission, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at his home.
Richard was born November 1, 1933, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Paul F. and Edith L. Peak. He was a graduate of Kansas State University and veteran of the US Army. Richard was a Systems Analyst for the Department of Agriculture for 37 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and the Alumni Association at Kansas State University. Richard was a member of the City Planning Commission in Mission, Kansas. He and his wife, Virginia, were instrumental in the building of Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center in Mission. Richard was a lifelong catholic and active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and member of their bereavement group.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Peak, on August 18, 1999. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Richard Peak, wife, Kim and David Paul Peak, wife, Kerry and four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Christian, Ethan and Gavin Peak, all of Lenexa, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, at St. Pius X Catholic Church; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas.
