Richard Wayne Pendleton, 67 of rural Bonner Springs, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Born in Barry County, Missouri to Richard and Kate (Linn) Pendleton he moved with his family to Kansas City area in his young teens. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years then worked as a terminal manager for Churchill Truck Lines, Farmland Industries then Orscheln Truck Lines before his retirement in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; three sons Michael and his family, Linda, Zachary and Saralyn Pendleton of Kingwood, Texas, John and his family, Samantha and Caulin Pendleton of Shawnee, Heath and his family Courtnee, Colton and Harmonee Pendleton of Gardner; two daughters, Kristy of Kansas City, Missouri and Heather of Bonner Springs; one brother, Robert Pendleton of Kansas City, Kansas, and two aunts and two uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two sisters, Linda Gentry and Sylvia Creason.
The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.
Memorial Service
There will be a celebration of Richard's life at the family home in Bonner Springs, 1 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009, for family and friends.
