Richard E. Thorpe, 87, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away November 2, 2010.
Dick was born November 28, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Guy and Ruby (Baugh) Thorpe.
Dick attended the University of Iowa for two years before serving in the US Army during WWII. He was with the 99th Infantry during the Battle of the Bulge. After returning home he married his sweetheart, Bonnie Mae Keller. They were married 57 years before her passing in 2003. Dick worked for 40 years with Sinclair Oil, retiring in 1987. During his retirement, he became active in the Johnson County Organ Club and the Heart of America Corvair Club.
Dick is survived by his son Guy Thorpe and wife Theresa; daughters Jane Johns and Julie Castro and husband John; and grandchildren, Brad Johns and Kristen Thorpe.
