Rita Marie Summers

Rita M. (Fanning) Summers, 87, Shawnee, KS passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020.

Rita was born June 3, 1933 in Lenexa, KS to Leo W. and Eugenia (Rosner) Fanning. She graduated from St. Joseph High School. Rita was employed with Kansas City Power & Light and the American Hereford Assoc. In 1956 Rita married Arnold Summers.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Summers, two sisters, Mary Nunnink and Martha Hauser, and two brothers, Leo Fanning, Jr. and Joseph Fanning. Survivors include her three sisters, Virginia Mackey, Olathe, KS, Patricia Archer, San Jacinto, CA and Florence Campbell, Shawnee, KS; two brothers, James Fanning and Jerome Fanning, both of Shawnee, KS; special niece, Chris Harding, Shawnee, KS and many other nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will never be forgotten.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be livestreamed from the Amos Family Facebook page, a Facebook account is not required to watch the services.
