Robert "Bob" Lawrence Bezek died peacefully at Season's Care Center on January 15, 2015, in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 83.
Bob is survived by five children: Robert "Bob" Bezek Jr. & spouse Jettie of Ottawa, KS., Margaret "Peggy" VanWagoner & spouse Roger of Lee's Summit, MO., Patricia "Patty" Bezek (Petzold) Olathe, KS., William "Bill" Bezek & spouse Andrea of Olathe, KS., Thomas "Tom" Bezek & spouse Buffy of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Sarah Bezek & spouse Nathaniel Thomas, Rachel Bezek, Jessica Brumley & spouse Daniel, Meredith DeSchepper & spouse Micah, Andrew VanWagoner & spouse Susan, Megan & Joseph Petzold, Alex, Gabriel and Michael Bezek. Great grandchildren: Cason Lee Johnsen, Christian Lee and Charles Finn Lee DeSchepper
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Bezek and John & Julianna Bezek (father and mother).
Bob was born on August 27, 1931 in Honolulu, HI. to John & Julianna Bezek. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1953 with a degree in Forestry & Wildlife Conservation. He also completed his Production Engineering Training School at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company in 1956.
Bob was an Officer (1st Lieutenant) in the United States Air Force from 1953 - 1956. He served as a pilot and a public relation's officer and was in the United States Air Force Reserves until 1965.
Bob worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company from 1956 -1959 as an engineer. He then transitioned to an engineering position with Western Electric Company in December 1959. In 1964 Bob was promoted to Section Chief with Western Electric and moved his family to Kansas City. Bob retired from Western Electric in 1985 after 26 years of service. Bob and his wife Betty then moved to the northern suburbs of Chicago, where Bob accepted an Executive Vice President position with Advantest America. Bob retired from Advantest in 1992.
Bob's true passions were his family and all things outdoors. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed taking his boys on hunting and fishing trips. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake house on Pomme de Terre. Bob was a devout Catholic and one of the founding families of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Overland Park, KS. His faith was a cornerstone on how he led his family and lived his life.
The family would like to thank Season's Care Center and Groves Community Hospice for their caring dedication to ministering to the needs of our father.
Visitation with the family will be at The Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, KS on Sunday January 18 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. The funeral will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church 5501 Monticello Shawnee, KS on Monday January 19. A Rosary will be held at 10:00 am with Burial Mass directly following. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life. Internment with be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.
