Robert N. Clark, of Shawnee, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Solari Hospice in Houston, Texas.
He was born July 10, 1926, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Orin and Mary Jo (Hitchman) Clark. He had a B.S. in chemistry from Sterling College and an M.S. in chemistry from Kansas State University. He taught 9 years in Kansas high schools; worked 10 years at Midwest Research Institute; and retired after 16 years at Bayer Animal Health.
Mr. Clark was a longtime member of Shawnee United Methodist Church, a volunteer GED math tutor in Kansas City, Kansas, and a volunteer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He was a former member of the American Chemical Society, the American Society of Quality Control, and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Vada (Schechter) Clark. Mr. Clark is survived by three sons and their wives: Charles (Chris) and Carl (Marjorie), both of Shawnee, and Donald (Catherine) of Rosenberg, Texas; sister, Mary Lou McCreight, Santa Fe, New Mexico; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Shawnee United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shawnee United Methodist Church, 10700 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.
