Robert J. Dehaemers, 74, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in Arlington, TX. Robert was born May 6, 1940 in Kansas City, KS to Leona and George J. Dehaemers. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph High School, received his Registered Nursing Degree from St. Margaret School of Nursing in 1963 and his BS and Masters degrees from Avila University. Robert was a Captain in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He later served as vice president of compliance at Sun Health. Robert established the Mother Teresa School of Nursing at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS.
Robert was very active in People to People and went around the world doing presentations.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Leona VanKeirsbilk, father, George Joseph Dehaemers and step-father, Jules VanKeirsbilk. Survivors include his brother, David (Joyce) Dehaemers, Leawood, KS; two nieces, three nephews, six great nieces; four great nephews, two very close cousins, Janelle Mayes, OSB and Jo Ann Plank and many close friends and neighbors in the Arlington, TX area.
Rosary Recitation will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203, followed by a visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
