Robert J. "Bob" Garrett, SR., 64, Climax Springs, MO passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.
Bob was born May 14, 1952 in Kansas City, MO to William and Edna Garrett. He was a 1970 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. In 1962, Bob started working with his father at the Hickory Stick Barbeque. He became a stockbroker in 1980 until 2000 when he opened the Amsterdam Café in Amsterdam, MO. Due to health reasons he closed the café in 2014.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Edna, May 2, 2010 and brother, William M. Garrett, Sept. 1, 1992. Survivors include his father, William Garrett, Lenexa, KS; his partner of 13 years, Irene Simms, Climax Springs, MO; son, Robert J. Garrett, Jr., Sweet Springs, MO; two sisters, Marsha (Eric) Nordman, Lenexa, KS and Lori (Nancy Kwilas) Garrett, Shawnee, KS; two brothers, John Garrett, Brooksville, FL and Jeffrey (Brittany Spilker) Garrett, Shawnee, KS; and grandson, Cade Garrett, Columbia, MO.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
