Robert J. "Bob" Van Lerberg, 64, passed away on July 1, 2014 surrounded by those who loved him. He was born March 11, 1950 in Shawnee, KS and there he lived except during his time proudly serving our country in the USMC and during his college years. He was the second of four children born to Maurice and Mary VanLerberg. His parents were of Belgium heritage and they taught him the meaning of family and he felt rooted to his family very strongly throughout his life.
Semper Fi
Bob graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University. After graduation, he became the owner of Robert VanLerberg Foundations and RVF Concrete Pumping. His passions were his children, his grandchildren (whom he called the light of his life), K State sports, hunting, watching really bad sci fi movies and bowling. Through the years he bowled 3 perfect 300 games.
His strength was the foundation we all leaned on, even during these past five years when he was receiving treatment for his cancer. He would say, "it is what it is". He knew God had a plan and it would all work out. He was a quiet man of deep faith. He leaves his wife, Shari, of the home. Three children, Shannon (Keith) Canant, Sal (Mary) VanLerberg and R.J. VanLerberg, and three perfect grandchildren, Bailey, Brody and Brenna. His parents, Maurice and Mary VanLerberg. Two sisters, Maureen (Bob) Williams, Diane (Phil) Wheat, and a brother, Dennis VanLerberg. His mother-in-law, Mildred Jackson, and a sister-in-law, Lori (Gilbert) Lupercio. Ten nieces and nephews and a host of cousins that he loved very much.
