Robert Joseph Maurer

Robert Joseph Maurer, 83, Shawnee, KS passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Bob was born Feb. 13, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Robert R. and Julia Maurer. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Bob was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. On Nov. 20, 1954, Bob married Carol Sue Swanson at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He retired from McAnany Construction in 1986, after 25 years of service. Bob was on the planning committee and a past council member in Shawnee. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and working.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Maurer; daughter, Susan (John) Rieke; three sons, Robert C. Maurer, Craig (Julie) Maurer and Kevan (Leonora) Maurer all of Shawnee, KS; two sisters, Betty (Tony) Lang, Shawnee, KS and Joan (Jewell) Shikles, Lenexa, KS; brother-in-law, Ralph Rusher, Shawnee, KS; twelve grandchildren and two great granchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 21801 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS; burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be held.
