Robert William Mccort

Robert William McCort, 90, of Overland Park, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012.

Bob was born February 20, 1922 in Arkansas City, Kansas to the late William and Olive McCort.

He grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1943. After graduation Bob was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Navy. He served as Executive Officer and Gunnery Officer on a destroyer escort in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

On October 23, 1949 he married Virginia Nell Kramer in St. Joseph, Missouri. He worked at General Motors as a Purchasing and Materials Supervisor from Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, KS. He retired in 1980 after 28 years of service.

Bob was an avid reader and after retirement enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Europe with his wife. He was a devoted husband of 62 years, a father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia, two sons, William R. McCort and wife Ann, Russell R. McCort and wife Sharon; two daughters, Mary V. Schneider and husband Jim; Laura E. Randol and husband Tim; seven granddaughters, Maren E. McCort, Ashley E. McCort, Sarah A. McCort, Rachel R. McCort, Hannah M. McCort, Stephanie V. Schneider, Emily E. Randol; two grandsons, Marc C. McCort, and James W. Schneider, Jr.

Bob was a kind and gentle soul, and was a true Gentleman. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Presbyterian Church of Stanley. A Celebration of Robert's life will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Folds of Honor; 5800 N. Patriot Dr.; Owasso, OK 74055.
