Robert L. Pounds, Jr., 56, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Bob was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a 1973 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and made his career as an independent insurance agent.
He enjoyed playing cards with his family, especially his mom, step-dad, his Aunt Donna and Uncle Jerry Deckard and his Deckard cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Pounds, his beloved “Granny” Burton, and his nephew, Daniel K. Koerperich. Bob is survived by his mother, W. Sherlene Pounds-Kohley and step-father Robert Kohley, by his sons Rhien (Emily Hernandez) Pounds and Matthew (Tasha Saffa) Pounds and granddaughter, Avery Lynne Pounds; daughter Emily Pounds. He is also survived by his sister, Stephanie (Greg) Franklin and brother, Tim (Lisa) Pounds; his nephew Scott (Callen) Franklin, nieces Brandi (Zack) Egan and Kaci Pounds, and by his partner Pam Cremer and her daughters April, Rebecca, and Jackie. He will also be remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at the funeral home, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions to Hope Lodge or National Public Radio.
