Robert D. Stevens, 61, of DeSoto, Kansas, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 9, 2011, at home.
Robert was born November 4, 1949, in Mansfield, Ohio, and was a graduate of Ontario High School. He worked at United Telephone Company of Ohio/Sprint in Mansfield and then was transferred to the Kansas City area with Sprint where he retired in 2002. After 33 years of service, he retired from Sprint and purchased Burning Tree Golf Course in Desoto, Kansas.
Bob loved to be outside working on all kinds of projects from building desks, planting a huge garden or flowers, and in-house remodeling projects. He loved being around his dogs and was often seen with one or both in the golf cart with him. When he would come home, he would be greeted by his other dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Gish Stevens; three sons, Dale (Lisa) Stevens of Ontario, Ohio, Brent (Andrea) Stevens of Galion, Ohio, and Brandon Stevens at home; two sisters, Janice Timmer of Mansfield, Ohio, and Karen (Jack) Southard of Marblehead, Ohio; five grandchildren, Alissa, Kailyn, Cameron, Tanner and Teagan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Mary Stevens.

Memorial Service
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. In addition, a memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined in Mansfield, Ohio.
