Robert Lester Taylor, 85, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at his home.

Robert was born March 27, 1923 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the oldest of four born to Lester Edward and Marie (Hansen) Taylor. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Robert was drafted in the U.S. Army Corp, January 25, 1943 and served until February 1946. He served as a radio repairman in the mobile units with the Signal Co. attached to the Airforce in China-Burma-India. When Robert returned home and went to work at Federal Sign an Signal Corp for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 124, VFW and The American Legion Post 327.

Robert met Cora Eileen Hayes in 1948 and they married on March 25, 1950. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Taylor; son, and daughter-in-law, Les and Janet Taylor; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Don Fitch; three grandchildren, Adrienne Russell, Stephanie Fitch and Zakry Taylor; and many, many friends. Bob found humor throughout his life in everything he did, whether work, playing with the children, volunteering or just every day activities.

Memorial Services

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Friends may call from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Inurnment will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March23 in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
