Robert Arturo Valverde

Robert Arturo Valverde, 84, was born May 4th, 1932 in New York, NY and died May 30, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

Robert was a graduate of Cardinal Hays High School in Bronx, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Fordham University, Bronx, New York. He was a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and earned his Master's degree in Biochemistry from Maryland University. He was an accomplished classical mandolin and mandola player. He played with such groups as the Mandolin Club of Worms, Germany; the Downtown Mandolin Orchestra of Lawrence, KS and The Classical Mandolin Society of the United States.

Robert had a distinguished military career and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army in 1977. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years; 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. 2 brothers & 2 sisters. Robert was a good Christian man, and raised his family with good Christian values. During his life he enjoyed ice hockey, racquetball, squash, model airplanes and stained glass. He will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.

Visitation and Services

Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m, Monday, June 6 St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee. Entombment following at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Amos Family Funeral Home.
