Robert “Bob” Zacher

January 30, 1942 — March 2, 2021

Robert “Bob” Zacher, 79, passed away March 2, 2021, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Bob was born January 30, 1942, in Kansas City, KS to Joseph and Karolina Zacher. He graduated from Bishop Miege High School and following graduation served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and worked as a mechanic and a supply specialist. Upon returning to the States, he met his wife after being set up on a blind date with her by his sister. Bob married Monica Huettenmueller on June 17, 1967. They were married for 37 years until her death in 2005.

Bob worked as a silk screener for Nazdar. He worked there his entire career until his retirement after 37 years. In addition, Bob operated his own lawn mowing business.

Bob loved his family and had an extreme passion for his grandchildren. In younger years, he enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and bowling. He loved the time he spent at the family house in Greeley, reveling in numerous Fourth of July celebrations and chatting up a storm with family and friends. He adored Christmas and it brought him much joy to elaborately decorate his home exterior to the season. Bob never met a stranger that didn't quickly become his friend. Once you started a conversation with Bob, you were hooked, and sometimes trapped, by his vibrant personality. He never grew tired of sharing stories, giving his opinion, and playfully giving "grief" to his friends. In recent years. Bob's home became his neighborhood's central gathering hub, as he socialized with all from the comforts of his garage.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Monica; his parents, Joseph and Karolina Zacher; sisters Freda, Mary, Bertha, and Margaret; and brothers Joe, Martin, Bernard, George, and William.

He is survived by his daughters Kim (Ken) Cashman and Sheryl; grandchildren Allison and Patrick Cashman; sister Virginia Pettijohn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 5, at 10am at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, located at 7023 W 71st St, Overland Park, KS 66204. The mass will be streamed by the church, you can find Bob’s mass by clicking HERE.  A private family burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Greeley, Kansas where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Monica.
