Robyn Melissa Stout Opheim, the second daughter of Bren and Ronald Stout, was born on September 9th, 1975 in Houston TX. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 25th, 2022 at her home in Shawnee KS.
Robyn was a Daddy’s Girl and was very athletic. Beginning with swimming competitively on the Bear Creek Swim Team at age 5, her interests broadened to include soccer and softball. Basketball became her real passion in 5th grade and continued through high school. Robyn graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1994 where she lettered in Basketball and held the record for successful 3-point shots. She briefly attended Labette Community College in Parsons KS.
Robyn’s dream of becoming a mother became a reality when she and Jim Gaither welcomed their son, TJ, into the world in 1997. Her family continued to grow a few years later as Jackson, Emily and Zachary were born to Robyn and Jason Opheim. Her children were the most important part of her life; her pride in them and love for them were immeasurable.
Reconnecting with her high school sweetheart, Chad McGowen, was the next milestone in Robyn’s path of life. They joined their families, including Chad’s son Conner, and became engaged. They made their home together in Shawnee KS.
Robyn’s professional resume was varied. She worked in a travel agency, organizing and guiding tours to Branson. She owned and operated Robyn’s Cleaning Association, offering residential and commercial services. She worked at FBD Consulting Inc as client advocate for employee benefits. Her last job, and the one she really enjoyed the most, was in the cafeteria at Rosehill Elementary School because it combined her love of children with her love of cooking.
Robyn leaves behind so many people who love her and will miss her so much…. Her children: TJ, Jackson, Emily & Zachary; her fiancé Chad McGowen; her mother, Bren Stout (Tom Dougherty); her sisters: Shanan Allemang (husband Clark) and Mandi Stout (fiancé Michael); her grandfather, Stanley Parker; her nephews: Matthew, Aidan & Alex; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Robyn will be remembered by friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers for her kind heart, her creativity, her willingness to help in any situation, her beautiful smile, her compassion and her complete love and devotion to her children. Welcoming her into Heaven are her father, her grandmother, two aunts and many other cherished friends and relatives. Rest in Peace, Robyn.
