Roger D. Bartlett, 68, of Merriam, KS passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Roger was born December 19, 1949 to the late Robert and Margaret Bartlett in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School where as the Drum Major, he found his love for music that lasted his whole life. He was able to pass on his love for music to his children and grandchildren. Roger was also active with the Boy Scouts of America and attained the highest rank possible, Eagle Scout. After graduating high school in 1967, Roger attended Bradley University and earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1971. Roger had a talent and passion for technology, earning 14 patents over his illustrious career. On July 1, 1978 Roger married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Cynthia Adkins. Together they created a loving and close knit family that traveled, laughed and formed a lifetime of fond memories. Roger's greatest joy in life was being a father and Papa. He loved playing, wrestling and singing kids songs with the youngest in the family. Roger was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit.
He is survived by his loving wife Cindy; two sons, Rex Bartlett; Ryan Bartlett and wife Jessica; a daughter, Megan Finnell and husband Chase; granddaughter Phoenix Finnell; a grandson, Rhett Axel Bartlett; a brother, Scout Bartlett; two brothers in law, Ron Adkins and wife Kim; Mark Adkins.
A celebration of Roger's life will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 6422 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66202.
