Rolland Lee "Dusty" Chandler, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at his home. He was born in Goff, Kansas, on May 5, 1922.
After World War II he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. Thanks to the GI Bill he was able to attend Washburn University, and Kansas State University, obtaining his degree in Civil Engineering in 1949.
Dusty worked for Water District Number One of Johnson County for 32 years, serving as the highly regarded and well respected General Manager for 28 years, guiding the District through a significant growth period. After retirement he founded Right of Way Associates.
Community service was a high priority for Dusty. He received many awards and was a recognized member and leader of community, civic and church organizations. The holiday season included Christmas tree sales for his Optimist Club to raise funds for various youth projects; he was a member of the club for over 50 years. Most spring and summer Saturdays you would find him planting and pruning at Hope Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marjorie. His surviving family members include his devoted daughters, Martha Chandler, Overland Park, Kansas, Susan Lemon and her husband Gary, Greencastle, Indiana and, Carol Moser and her husband John, Leawood, Kansas and his sister Creta Lutz, Hoyt, KS. Many life lessons were imparted to his four loving grand children, Brian and Allison Woods and Mark and Michael Lemon.
We love you Daddy and Grandpa, you will always have a very special place in our hearts.

Visitation and Funeral Service
Visitation will be at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee on Wednesday March 11 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12 at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Road, Shawnee, Kansas, with a luncheon following the service. Interment at 2:00 p.m. Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park Kansas.
