Romez Benjamin Benjamin Howell passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital. Romez was born March 24, 1950 to Elaine Howell in Benny Hall, St. Peter, Barbados, West Indies. When Romez was just 18 months old, his mother Elaine passed away and he was then raised by his loving grandmother, Meryl D. Howell and aunt Etheny Joyce Howell and his great uncle Fred Holder. He was raised in home where God was put first before all things. He attended All Saints Boys School and then attended Colerige Parry College became a teacher. In 1965 he met a girl, Arlene Alexis Phillips. The two fell in love and were engaged. In 1971, while Arlene was in Canada for work, Romez decided to come to America. When he told his grandmother what he would like to do she asked him if he had talked to God about it and he answered with Psalm 61, Psalm 62: 1-2, 5-8 and Psalm 63: 1-8. She gave him her blessing and he came to America. He started working in New York in a steel factory but soon connected with some very nice people who introduced him to sales and he was a natural. He became a door to door salesman and sold encyclopedia sets, pots and pans, and even magazines. He was extremely good at sales. Arlene came to the states to join him in 1971. Romez and Arlene married on August 9, 1973. In 1974, Romez sent for his grandmother to come to live with him and Arlene and she lived with him and his family until her passing in 1987. As Romez continued his career in sales, he received top sales awards and ran teams of sales people. Romez always went where the work was so during the early 1970's he lived in several different cities including Indianapolis, Evansville, Milwaukee, and eventually moved to Kansas City in 1976. As his children became of school age, he decided to make Kansas City home and started his own company, Continental Advanced Services. He was very successful with his business in sales but also saw an opportunity in the mortgage industry and started a second company, Continental Mortgage Services. He helped many people become home owners and his favorite saying was "We never start with no." Romez had a good heart and was giving person. He made many friends over the years and always opened his home to his friends and family whether it be for an evening or a year. Many of the people.

A Visitation is set for 12:30 ~ 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Cross Points Church 6824 Lackman Road, Shawnee, Kansas 66217 with a Funeral Service immediately following at 1:30PM. Burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Shawnee, Kansas.
