Ronald L. Boggs passed away quietly on February 24, 2022 with his nephew Todd by his bedside at the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care facility in Kansas City, Missouri.
"Little Ronnie," as he was known, was born on September 22, 1949 in Lamar, Missouri. He was born to Thelma and Woodrow Boggs. He grew up in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Ronnie graduated from Turner High School in 1967 where he was an accomplished baseball player. Ronnie was a skilled automotive mechanic and worked at Broadway Ford until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He served in Vietnam and served with the 101st Airborne Division in the A-Shau Valley region and was very proud of his service. After serving his term in Vietnam, he drove for Safeway Groceries and in later years, Associated Wholesale Grocers for over forty years. Ronnie additionally ran one of the family's retail businesses in Shawnee that did vacuum cleaner sales and repairs. Ronnie was married to Carolyn in 1980. He truly dedicated himself to Carolyn and his whole family. Ronnie enjoyed watching Kansas City sports, especially the KC Royals and certainly watched the Chiefs, too. It became a tradition of meeting weekly for BBQ at Rosedale BBQ and later Hayward's with his nephews Todd and Tom and Todd's son Dustin. Those were great times.
The family would ask to honor Ronnie that instead of flowers, contributions be sent to the Kansas City Hospice House, where he got exceptional and loving care.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at 2 pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home. To view Ronnie's service, please CLICK HERE . Ronald will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
