Ronald R. Kasten, 73, passed away unexpectedly November 2nd, 2021.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7500 Oak St, Kansas City, Missouri 64114. A service will be held Friday, November 5th, 2021 11 a.m. also at Calvary Lutheran Church.
Ronald was born May 21st, 1948 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Raymond and Esther (Kettler) Kasten. He was baptized into the Lutheran church in June of 1948 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He attended Bethlehem Lutheran Grade School and Sheboygan South High School. He attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska, followed by DeVry University in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked as a field engineer for Honeywell, Data General, and McKesson before retiring.
Ron married Alice Brandt in 1973 in Kansas City, Missouri. They have one daughter, Kristin, born in 1987. He was a devoted member of Calvary Lutheran Church, serving as an Elder for many years and was a loyal member of the Men’s Bible Study Group. He also was known as the “coffee man,” making sure there was hot coffee available after the service.
Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, walking, playing the piano, and fixing things. Although he lived in Kansas City for most of his life, he missed the lakes and weather of his home state of Wisconsin and only tolerated the Kansas City heat.
Ron will be greatly missed and remembered for all the love and service he showed to others. He was always willing to help and “love his neighbor,” and is a reminder for all of us to do the same in his memory.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Alice; daughter Kristin and her husband Joshua Friedel; brother Bob and his wife Janet, sister Susan Kasten, and brother Philip Kasten. His nieces and nephews, Greg Oetting, Mike Oetting, Renee (Oetting) Asher, Christa (Kasten) Keiper, Julie (Kasten) Leibham, and Luke Kasten.
