Ronald Dean Lowe

December 9, 1928 — August 11, 2016

Ronald Lowe, 87, of Prairie Village, journeyed forward to his heavenly home on August 11.

Ron was born on December 9, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the only child of Janie (Wainscott) Lowe and Ralph Lowe. The family moved to Leavenworth, Kansas when Ron was 5. He had a happy childhood with lots of friends; many of whom remained life-long friends. He married his best friend, Dorothy Baldwin, on August 12, 1951, the year before he graduated with a Business Degree from the University of Kansas. After serving as a Second Lieutenant in the army during the Korean War, Ron worked for the H.D. Lee Company as Distribution Manager for many years in South Bend Indiana, Nashville, Tennessee and Kansas City. Following his retirement, he had a successful career for over 10 years with Hutchings/Carrier Realtors.

Ron was a strong follower of Christ, a loyal friend, an ethical businessman, a staunch Republican, an enthusiastic singer, a Jayhawk supporter, and one of those Royals fans who remained steadfast during the ups and downs of the last 30 years. He was also a great dad and a loving husband. The family is comforted by the fact that he died one day before his 65th wedding anniversary and they envision a grand reunion in heaven to celebrate that milestone.

Ron Lowe leaves behind his daughter Laurie Barnes and her husband Steve in Prairie Village, Kansas, sister-in-law Margie Baldwin of Leavenworth, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews and life-time friends.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas, on Saturday August 20 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday August 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions can be made to Wheels of Hope in Junction City, KS, the University of Kansas School of Business or the Pet Connection.
