Ronald W. Roberts, 78, of Kansas City, KS., died Friday, August 22, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo. Born May 28, 1936, in Moberly, Mo., Ron was the son of the late William Earl and Anna Juanita Roberts, both of Moberly. On May 30, 1960, he married his bride of 54 years, Seiko Roberts who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by two brothers, Dale Roberts and his wife Joy of Moberly, Mo., and Paul Roberts and Jean Hummel of Rennick, Mo. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Billie Ann Wiseman of Moberly, Mo. and Judith Lynn Sparrow of Oklahoma City, Ok.
He is also survived by two sons, Jim and his wife Chrissy Roberts of Shawnee, Ks., and Billy Roberts of Independence, Mo., and three granddaughters; Madelaine, Abigail, and Sarah Roberts of Shawnee, KS. He also had seven nieces and nephews.
Ron had quite a colorful and illustrious life. He was a draughtsman, Army engineer /film librarian, and a cartographer for the US Defense dept., of which he retired. Post retirement saw him involved as a US Census taker, medical transporter, and deputy sheriff for Kansas City, Ks. He enjoyed several hobbies: flying, hunting, ham radio, reading and woodworking. His love of the Bible and its study made him an invaluable resource for anyone who would ask that of him.
"A stranger is just a friend you ain't met yet." was a creed he lived by, and if you were near him for any time at all, you would have gotten to know him. Beloved husband, son, brother, father, uncle and "Jiji", he will be missed by family and friends alike, as we await our joyous reunion with him in Heaven.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 29 at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Ks. Visitation will be at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Dr. Shawnee, Ks. 66203 on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 12:30.
