Ronnie L. Hutchison

Ron L. Hutchison, 85, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 14th, 2023.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, June 30th at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1st, 10:00am at Shawnee United Methodist Church. Ron will be laid to rest at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens following his service.

Ron was born December 10th, 1937 in Mt, Vernon, Illinois to Robert and Mildred Hutchison.

After graduating from Mt Vernon High School in 1955, Ron was hired as a draftsman by the Vernois Company in Mt Vernon. Vernois, which later became Locke Stove Company, manufactured Warm Morning gas space heaters and Broilmaster gas grills. Ron transferred to Kansas City to work at the Design and Engineering Laboratory for Locke Stove in 1964. Before he left Locke Stove in 1985, he had been promoted to Vice President of Marketing. Ron’s second career was selling Residential Real Estate which spanned from 1986 to 2017. He was especially gratified helping 1st time buyers and Seniors transitioning from their family homes. Ron was active in his church. When he was a chairperson for the trustees, he gained the nickname “Suits”. Ron and Sherry helped establish Stephen Ministry at SUMC. Besides an extraordinary work ethic, Ron was a wonderful role model for his sons, as a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert Hutchison and Joanne Riley

He is survived by his wife Sherry of 55 years; sons Tim (Michael) Hutchison, Steve (Karen) Hutchison, and Ryan (Kimberly) Hutchison; grandchildren’s names Lynlee, Nicholas, Bennett, and Morgan. Sister; Mary Ellen Charleton,, brother in law Jim Riley. Blessed with many other extended family members.

The family really appreciates the compassionate care Ron & Sherry received while Ron was a resident at Brookdale Shawnee Memory Care Facility.
