Roy L. Hurst, 82, of Overland Park, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Roy was born May 27, 1931 to the late Earl and Anna (Cowan) Hurst. Roy was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. He graduated from Manual High School in 1949. Roy married Mary M. Mefford in Kansas City May 5, 1962. Roy worked in the film industry since he was 18 years old. He retired from 20th Century Fox as a Branch Manager in 1986.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary M. Hurst; two sons, Craig Hurst and wife Karen Elder-Hurst; Scott Hurst; a daughter, Debra Johnson; two sisters, Pat DeVault, Bea Stroth; a brother, George Hurst; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation and Services

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Roy's Life will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
