Roy M. Thomas, Jr.

Roy M. Thomas, Jr., 89, Lansing, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the VA Nursing Home, Leavenworth, Kansas.

Mr. Thomas was born September 18, 1921, in Hillsdale, Kansas, to Roy A. and Jennie (Madison) Thomas. He graduated from North Kansas City High School and attended Rockhurst College. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII serving in the 104th Infantry Timberwolves. He was employed with Western Electric for 25 years until his retirement.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Bean) Thomas on August 11, 2005. Survivors include his daughter Linda Hawkins and husband Ed, Leavenworth, Kansas; son, Tom Thomas, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, one step-grandson, 12 great grandchildren, one step great granddaughter and three step great great grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Monday, January 24, 2011, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
