Rozanne Christine Liddy Gardner

October 30, 1931 — February 2, 2014

Rozanne Christine Liddy Gardner was born October 30, 1931 to Fred and Rozanne (Clinton) Liddy in Independence, Missouri. Christine (Chris) died on February 2, 2014, just hours before Super Bowl kickoff, in Sandy, Oregon, surrounded by her loving family.

Christine (Chris) graduated high school from Notre Dame de Sion, Kansas City, Missouri, attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, and St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, to earn her teacher's certification. She met her future husband John Jess Gardner at the holy water fount in the back of the "College Church" at St. Louis University. They married on August 16, 1952 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roeland Park. Her husband was a Johnson county attorney, served in the county attorney's office and Kansas legislature. They had three sons: Bryan Liddy, John Christoper and David Donnelly. After a brief time teaching, Chris dedicated her life to serving her family, church, children's schools and activities and many social and volunteer organizations. Prior to her move to Sandy, Oregon, three years ago she lived in Seattle, Washington, Columbia, Missouri, Carrington, North Dakota and Fairway, Kansas.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Liddy and her husband John Jess Gardner. She is survived by three sons and their wives, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild: Bryan and Tuffy (Ludwig) Gardner, Jesse and Tiffany Gardner, Zachary and Erica Gardner and son Theodore, and Bryana Gardner and fiancé Jordan Ware; John Christopher and Julie (Abare) Gardner, Kate Gardner and Kyle Gustafson, Elisabeth Gardner and Oscar Durand, and John Robert Gardner; and David and Jill Diehl Gardner, Tyler, Cody, Alexander, Anna and Adrianna Gardner. She is also survived by her sister Ellen J. White and Kenneth Wheeler, one nephew and two nieces: Philip White, Melissa White and Richard Garrett, Chantal and Philip Bacon and their children James and daughter Amanda Chantal Bacon and Joshua Kritzer and son Rohan Kritzer Bacon.

Thank you to Avamere Signature Hospice in Sandy, Oregon, for the loving care Chris received during her final years and days.

Chris will always be remembered for how much she loved her family, reading, education, trees and sports-especially college basketball and Chiefs football.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Amos Funeral Family Home, Shawnee, Kansas. The funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014,at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Roeland Park, Kansas, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.

Memorial Contributions

In lieu of flowers memorial dona-tions may be sent to St. Agnes Catholic School, Roeland Park, Kansas, to benefit the library.
