Russell “Ed” Campbell Jr.

September 11, 1940 — November 19, 2020

Russell "Ed" Campbell JR., 80, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away November 19, 2020 surrounded by his family. Ed was born September 11, 1940 in Olathe, Kansas to Russell and Leta Campbell. He met his beautiful wife Mary Ann in 1959 while bowling in Overland Park. They went on to have three wonderful children, daughter Jenny (Scott) Wyman and sons Ed (Ann) Campbell III, Steve (Stacy) Campbell. In 1978 Ed started a family business Johnson County Building Materials, Inc in Merriam, Kansas which is still family owned and operated today.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and hunting. He loved going to his grandkid's games and events, as well as working outside and getting dirty. Ed was a jack of all trades, teaching the grandchildren how to drive on his golf cart.

Ed loved spending as much time as he could with his family.

He is survived by his wife and children as well as seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was a great man and will be missed.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Monday, November 23, 2020 at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas. A Mass of The Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church in Shawnee. You can watch a live stream of Ed’s funeral here.

Ed will be laid to rest in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions we are limited to 45 people in the chapel at a time. Masks and social distancing will be required.
